Biggest Mistake When Painting Your Home 1 – Using Budget Paint Brands

As a Painter, it’s always an interesting experience seeing family and friends undertake painting jobs within their homes. I’ve been in the Painting industry for well over 15 years now and always see the same mistakes being made from well-meaning home-owners.
It’s with this intention that this 5 part article series was created. Whether you choose to work with a Professional Painter or take up the Painting works yourself, this guide will show you the 5 biggest mistakes Home-owners make when painting and how you can avoid them.
Painting seems easy… But with the wrong preparation and expectations, it can easily become a messy and expensive exercise. We don’t want that now do we?
Anyhow, here is the first tip and it’s a big one.

Mistake 1 – Using Budget Paint Brands.

You wouldn’t believe it but quality can differ vastly between cheap paints and good quality paints. This is where all Home Owners come unstick and is the root of most Painting problems.
For the sake of an extra $20 – $40 you can avoid a myriad of headaches such as:

  • Walls that can’t be cleaned down
  • Surfaces that become “chalky & faded”
  • Having to repaint earlier than needed.

You won’t be happy with using budget paints if you’re up for a quick job or saving money. The cost to repaint or touch up your already expensive Paint job can easily be avoided by choosing a reputable Painting Brand.
Whilst there are many Professional Painting brands to use in your next painting project, we normally recommend Dulux, Resene or Solver. These brands are well respected in the Painting Industry and we have used all three in our business at some point in time.
Choosing a premium brand over a budget brand is worth your time and money investment.
