Storm Season Brisbane
With the storm season hopefully gone for the year, it’s a timely reminder to make sure that you are adequately protected against wild weather when it arrives.
Queensland and other coastal areas are notorious for getting battered by wild weather and it pays to run your building through an audit to make sure that every aspect of storm safety has been considered.
Here are a few areas to look at:
• Ensure that loose objects around your building are secured or safely stored away if a storm approaches
• Have an emergency supply of bags, plastic sheeting and masking tape to protect areas from rain damage
• Clean your roofs, gutters and downpipes to lessen potential storm damage to your building.
Also, make sure you have an emergency kit with the following items.
• A list of your local radio stations for up-to-date information
• A portable battery-operated radio and torch with a supply of batteries
• Candles and matches or a gas lantern
• A first aid kit with all the necessary items.
• Valuables and important documents secured in a safe place.
